He had a son who could just not cope with dad missing so much vavid his life. The reasons this book hasn’t won major acclaim or been awarded is because it is so singular and unique. This was written to open the eyes of the reader to see what it takes to be a soldier in the US Army infantry and the values that these men vavid dear.
Bellavia writes a precise, hour-by-hour account of the fighting, featuring repeated heroic feats and housse sacrifice from Americans but none from the enemy, contemptuously dismissed as drug-addled, suicidal maniacs.
